Hollywood Charity Horse Show

The HCHS brings together world-class reigning horses and riders, both professional and amateur, to compete for top honors in their respective classes.

The HCHS benefits: Ahead With Horses, a therapeutic riding organization which works with children who are very badly disabled and:

The Max Straus Foundation
Owned and operated by Jewish Big Brothers since 1938, the non-sectarian camp gives enriching camping experiences to thousands of children between the ages of seven and seventeen who are struggling with emotional, physical, behavioral or social interaction problems, and who would probably not be accepted by traditional camps.
Youngsters, particularly those with case histories of foster placement, loss of a parent or parents, abuse or other adjustment difficulties, often thrive during and after their stay at camp.

Children are referred to the camp through school districts, the court systems, group homes, residential treatment centers, foster homes, special education schools, and more than 300 youth-serving agencies.

All programs are designed to develop self-esteem, promote positive, supportive relationships, prevent continuation of negative and destructive behavior, and to foster hope, healing, and security in their young lives. The camp has a staff of trained counselors and professional clinical social workers, and maintains a very high staff to camper ratio of two counselors for every eight children.

Tilden's Children
Tilden's Children, launched by Country 93.9 KZLA morning radio host Peter Tilden, is a partnership with L.A. Family Housing that was introduced in May 2002. Tilden's Children offers KZLA listeners with the opportunity to "be a hero to a homeless child" by helping homeless and low-income children look forward to a positive future. Once each month KZLA sponsors an activity to offer its listeners a chance to make a difference in the lives of homeless children.

By launching such an ambitious campaign, KZLA has set a new standard - and, hopefully, a new trend - among public radio stations. Clearly, KZLA's partnership with L.A. Family Housing is a valuable complement to L.A. Family Housing's mission of providing a safe, caring, and service-rich environment helping homeless families and individuals rebuild their lives.
